Thumbs up to the Fort Collins City Council, which voted 7-0 at its May 20th meeting to establish new long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals while maintaining its commitment to the goal established by council in 1999. Council responded appropriately to input from the Climate Task Force, the Fort Collins Sustainability Group, and other community members who expressed their support for meeting that now short-term goal by 2012. City Council thereby signaled its intention to take meaningful action on climate change in the near future, and demonstrated its responsiveness to community concerns.
